What Did I Miss?
Not the Drake song...
Another week, another blur of nonsense and ridiculousness.
I honestly think we have gone from the worst timeline possible to absolute chaos and so far around that maybe this is the correct timeline? IDK…but just for those playing along it all sucks.
So what happened?
Everyone knows by now that the Big Terrible Bill passed last week.
It does a lot of bad things and I don’t have space or time to get into all of them but the short of it is— people will die.
That isn’t hyperbole— they admitted it themselves.
When confronted with the dangers of the cuts to medicaid, Iowa Senator Joni Ernst said “We are all going to die”
The mango maniac followed that up with his own assurances to America:
Cool, great work bro. I’ll be sure to tell that to my diabetic family members reliant on medicaid.
And…as an aside. These people don’t know what Medicaid even is. Many ‘conservative’ lawmakers have made the rounds on the news talking about how this SAVES money because we are fighting medicaid fraud and waste.
They tell stories of people they know of who are sitting at home collecting a medicaid check when they are able bodied and can work.
Here are two really important things to point out.
A. There is no such thing as a medicaid check…medicaid pays the HOSPITAL for services rendered.
B. Around 75% of people getting medicaid DO WORK.
The problem is our healthcare system sucks thanks to billionaires (s/o to Luigi allegedly) and our wages suck thanks again to…billionaires.
Working people just cannot afford the system as we’ve designed it.
That gets back to this bill… it helps fewer than 90 of the 327 million people in the United States as of July 7, 2025.
Seems big and beautiful to me.
The wildest thing about all of this is the fact that it BARELY passed, and was made worse by the Senate. The Senate, as a reminder, is DEI for rural conservative states.
The fact that states with a smaller population than the city I live in (which has one congressional member) has two senators just like idk…New York and California. Is wild.
The deciding vote in the senate was from the senator from Alaska who took some bribes for her vote that are supposed to help her people back home.
So a senator representing 700,000 people, again smaller than my metro area, just took away healthcare for 20 million people? Seems like a great system.
I truly hate it here.
And while some people were celebrating this joke of a country for July 4th… torrential floods in Texas took the lives of many including a bunch of kids at camp.
It is a terrible and sad story and cuts to the weather centers made this possible. But don’t look to the government for an apology.
Instead, as this was going on the orange guy was…golfing. Because of course.
Here is the thing tho— he wasn’t “slammed” here. It wasn’t even covered. Only real countries actually call him out for his nonsense. That post is from Ireland.
In Other News—
Fresh off of getting rid of the rose garden for a tacky patio like at Mar-A-Lago— the White House is planning to host a UFC fight. AT THE WHITE HOUSE
This is so embarrassing and tasteless. I also wonder if he has to pay Melania extra for an appearance fee at a sporting event. Probably.
And I hate to play this game, but just THINK of the outrage if Obama planned…idk insert something stereotypically Black here… at the White House. I am old enough to remember the meltdown when it was announced he had installed a $200 basketball goal.
The March of The Idiots
As a quick just fyi. This weekend in my city a group of racist white supremacists marched through downtown. The “Patriot Front” did their stupid little march and wanted to get attention even though they all decked out in masks.
I started to post the pictures and video but nah.. their march is just stupid and hateful. The only march I respect is that of the penguins.
Btw— remember when he put a tariff on their island. lol, stupid times.
