Not R-Kelly's Space Jam
I don't believe anymore
In 1996 Robert (R) Kelly made the song “I Believe I Can Fly” a hit. It was the lead soundtrack song to Space Jam. The song combined optimism, one of the top (at the time but… RIP) singers, Bugs Bunny, and the 2nd best basketball player to ever exist—Michael Jordan.
We were flying…
But now, in 2025. We ain’t flying. At least we don’t believe in it.
Just a couple weeks ago, a devastating airplane crash occurred in Washington DC.
The Orange One and his racist, sexist, klan blamed DEI and kept it moving. Because what is a problem in America not caused by the Blacks or the women right?
Well.. after that crash multiple more plane crashes followed.
First a few days later in Philadelphia.
This was quickly followed by another plane crash a day later.
Two days after that—
Oh, and a few days after that—
This is NOT NORMAL. Nor is it okay. But what are the ignorant class doing about it?
Yeah— that seems like a great idea. Especially in light of the information that these accidents were in fact NOT caused by DEI but lack of FAA workers and very preventable issues.
We are living in the dumbest possible timeline. The people who cheated on homework and were too dumb to remember to change the name on the assignment are now heading federal agencies that impact our lives.
It pays to be a rich white man I guess.
For those of us in the real world, I’m scared. I had my first flight during this administration last week…and nerves were bad. Not just me. It was clear many more people were more on alert than normal. And this is coming from someone who previously flew 2-3x a week for work. Ya boy had miles.
But I am not as confident in the plane now. What seemed routine, much like existing in this world right now, is a test of faith and a lot of hope.
I am set to fly in a few days actually—-
Still debating driving to Detroit instead of doing an hour flight. For free.
And I’m not alone..searches for alternatives to flying have spiked:
This is not normal.
But maybe that is where we are? R-Kelly is in prison, Michael Jordan is chillin with his billions, Bugs Bunny is nowhere to be found, and for the moment, many of us don’t believe we can fly.
