Not How Anything Works
A quick hit on our quicker descent into authoritarian fascism
I saw this last night on my maps…hoped it was a dream but…
They did it.
Being real, it doesn’t REALLY matter on the map what we call it. We know what it is.
“His momma named him Mexico, I’m going to call him Mexico”
But Coming to America jokes aside…this isn’t funny. It is the proverbial slippery slope— and this slope slides into fascism. Real quick.
Since the Tangerine King took the throne office, he has sent out a flurry of executive orders.
Here is the problem—- as of last count, none of them are Constitutional. You know that thing they claim to love and abide by.
BTW: they are being legally challenged— HERE— so check those out to be up to date on the nonsense.
Executive Orders are NOT Supreme Law
This is not a kingdom, you don’t issue an edict.
IF that were the case then wouldn’t our student loans be gone?
But no, as we saw with President Biden and was affirmed by the court, the courts have the jurisdiction to check executive power. Same goes for the Legislative Branch i.e. Congress. They each have a role to play— kinda like a check or balance of powers or something—idk maybe I’m crazy.
Fake Power and Capitulation
He doesn’t have the power he acts like he does. Full stop. Does he know it? I am not sure, he is kind of stupid, but his enablers know. His advisors and people in his corner know this.
But it is better to act tough and make people obey in advance. The perception of power is actually stronger than power itself. And the capitulation to this fake power is the scary part.
Some of them may seem small, like a stupid name on a map, but when we accept that one, we set the precedent to accept the bigger ones.
Oh we can send suspected undocumented people to a random location in cages? Cool. Maybe we send the Black people next. Maybe the queer community? Then the women who vote in favor of abortion rights…
When and if those things are challenged the supporters then could quite literally point it out on a map…
