You know it was never about eggs

I am old enough to remember early November of 2024. A time when hope was alive for those of us from marginalized communities. The election dashed the hopes of so many and the purported claim by closet white supremacists was that the outcome was driven by the price of eggs.

Yah..okay.

Since this January, that administration has done everything they can think of to try to spread hatred and division. To try to take us back to a time when we were ‘great again’ and by great they mean Blacks and women were property. Speak when spoken to. All that jazz. (wait Jazz was created by Black people so that is DEI music)

The annoying and petty part of it all is they want to act like we never happened or we never achieved anything. They will scrub our legacies as they seek to rebuild the fallacy of white male superiority.

Can’t Erase Reality

Look, I get it. You are frustrated that in spite of all you do to us, we still manage to embody the words of Maya Angelou —still we rise.

Remember learning about Jackie Robinson who broke the color barrier in baseball? I do, I went as him for my 2nd grade book report. Another major thing about Jackie Robinson that some people know or forget, he was an officer in the army.

Unfortunately, unless you do independent research that fact is now hidden. Government websites have wiped any reference of this feat from the servers.

I can feel the eggs getting cheaper already.

Everybody Gets That Smoke

Well, not everyone—straight white dudes are fine I guess.

But everyone else, they hate you too. They want to erase you too…even in death.

The website for Arlington cemetery, the largest national cemetery and one of two maintained by the US Army (where Jackie Robinson served) in the country, has dropped the links for references to any Black, hispanic, and women veterans.

Further adding insult to injury, they have taken away acknowledgement of Medal of Honor recipients— people who had the heralded honor bestowed upon them are now to be erased unless they were a white dude.

Seems legit.

But Wait..Theres More

It can’t get lower than that right? Right?

Well it can.

The citrus administration issued a memo revoking the segregation clause

The memo states:

"When issuing new solicitations or contracts," civil agencies should no longer include the provision and clause about the "Prohibition of Segregated Facilities."

You read that right. Segregation is cool again. Granted, we have been segregated by policies for decades, but to strike the ban on federal contracts is a very loud signal to the most racist AND SEXIST among us.

I know when you look at the election results you remember that white women breaking for Mr. Mango put him over the hump to become president. Well… the clause was about segregation by race AND/OR gender.

I look forward to ‘white male only’ restrooms in the near future, same for special lines at the airport, and they might actually get those Southwest Airlines $49 flights no one ever actually sees.

I say this again…white women— you played yourself.

This Is Good for Nobody

Nothing good comes from these actions. The cruelty is the point and every step of the way the goal is to assert dominance. Just like little dogs who like to bark and act fierce, these people want to play tough on tv.

I don’t know the answers but I do know this—we are stronger as people together and as they try to erase our histories and achievements we must remember that in the ‘old days’ they didn’t have the internet to pass down what we have accomplished. They passed down stories. I personally remember stories from my granny about working the fields in Alabama. As they try to act like we haven’t done much, we have to always remind ourselves—yeah we did that. And we cannot forget.
