Super Bowl Cheers and Jeers
Veering away from political stuff this morning just to have a personal gripe sesh. Maybe it is political too— I mean everything really is.
Last night was the Super Bowl and that was fine. MAGA Mahomes got destroyed, Saquon got revenge, and Kendrick got to show the commander in hue racial symbolism…like the fact this country was BUILT ON THE BACKS of Black people.
And also not complaining about him getting booed out of this world:
But why not post the videos instead of links? Oh because I CAN’T because the orange overlord and his tech bros don’t want it shared.
More embarrassing— the Fox coverage of the game played the isolated audio of the cheers and filtered out the boos.
If you google the videos, the cheers are easy to find and all sound…similar. The boos are hard to find but are from cell phone cameras and not the Fox feed…interesting.
Crap I tried to stay away from politics but this country is so trash.
Oh and the spray tan man also posted the video of himself getting cheers and Taylor Swift getting mocked. Glad he is such an adult in these trying times.
But I will move on.
MVP DEI?
Remember all the talk about working harder as a Black person to get less? Think it doesn’t translate into sports since we often excel there? Well, guess again.
The NFL MVP race came down to a final vote, and somehow, some way, Josh Allen took home the award.
Now, Josh had a great year. He seriously did..BUT Lamar beat him in EVERY statistical category. You read that right…EVERY SINGLE ONE.
For good measure…
Lamar Jackson had one of the three best seasons in the history of the NFL. 105 years… and he has one of the top 3 statistically—EVER.
And he got zero awards.
At least the recognized media awards. He DID get the vote of the players as the best player. You know, the people that play with and against him. As far as the media votes…he got the votes of the non-white voters except for..Emmanuel Acho— who is a whole story himself. Google him..
Allen Gets His Way
At this point, Allen might as well have the NFL executives on speed dial. Need a rule changed? No problem. Just ask the NFL committee that overhauled the overtime format after Allen and the Bills lost a coin flip in the playoffs.
Not kidding— Josh Allen lost a game in the playoffs and the NFL CHANGED THE RULES to make it where that didn’t happen again.
Not to be outdone, after his loss THIS YEAR— they are already looking at changing MORE rules for his team next year.
For context— Josh Allen tried to run the ball in their final game, didn’t make it far enough, and then the NFL and his fans got upset and said the ref who was furthest away from the play should have been able to overrule what the camera and the other 4 refs eyes saw. Coming to you for the 2025-2026 season.
And if you don’t understand how he is seen differently—just tune into any broadcast where he’s described as a “generational talent” for doing things Lamar has been doing since his rookie year.
Let’s be clear: Josh Allen is a fantastic player. He’s a human bulldozer with a rocket arm, a highlight machine who makes plays few others can. But an MVP over this version of Lamar Jackson? The same Lamar who diced up defenses through the air, torched them on the ground, and did it all while leading his team to the best record in the toughest division? The same Lamar who was so good that defensive coordinators probably considered changing careers mid-game?
The numbers don’t lie. Jackson’s efficiency was off the charts, his ability to extend plays was unmatched, and his command of the Ravens’ offense was masterful. If we’re talking about sheer impact, it’s hard to find a season that ranks above his. Yet, here we are—watching Allen hoist the trophy.
Maybe this is just how things work now. Allen struggles, the NFL adapts. Allen wins, and we all nod like this was inevitable. Meanwhile, Lamar plays out of his mind and gets the usual “but he’s a running quarterback” asterisk from critics who refuse to acknowledge the truth.
The MVP award is supposed to go to the most valuable player. If we’re being honest, that was Lamar Jackson. But hey, maybe next year the league will make a rule ensuring that Allen gets an extra possession even if he wins the coin toss.
Right now it seems like the awards for Josh are what they THINK DEI is for us.
